Use communication skills to write and deliver a speech with an accompanying slideshow presentation. You must keep in mind the audience, purpose, and structure. In addition, you need to consider the ethical guidelines of public speaking by accurately citing and representing your sources. Topic: You want to propose to your boss that he let you telecommute from home a few days a week. What information do you need him to know? What information will convince him? How will you working from home benefit the company? Components: (all are required) 1. 2. 3. 4. Research/Annotated Bibliography Speech Outline Presentation Slide Deck (Power point) Audio recording of the speech (must follow along with the slide deck) Research/Annotated Bibliography Research the topic being discussed and submit notes in a word document about where you researched and what you found. (these must be credible sources). These are also required to be sited appropriately using APA formatting in both the presentation and the speech. In a separate word document include an annotated bibliography for the sources used. (Again, this must be APA formatting) Speech Outline Use a method of organization (i.e. categorical, spatial, compare/contrast, chronological, biographical, casual, etc.) to help determine the approach you take when recording the presentation. Also, determine the main points of your presentation and create a word document outline that highlights these main points. This should include notes about your introduction, body, and conclusion of the speech. This should also serve as an outline for the presentation serving as a visual aid. This must be done taking into consideration your audience when determining the approach and strategies. Presentation Slide Deck (Power Point) This slide deck should highlight the main points of your speech and should serve as a visual aid for your speech and help enhance your topic and ideas. Consider how the visual aid can improve audience understanding, clarify the message, and emphasize your main points. Presentation Delivery Must be appropriate for the needs of your audience. What do you think the audience is asking for? What is the appropriate tone and context in which the presentation should be delivered. What other tactics could be beneficial in making your point? Recording your presentation, as you would if you were giving the presentation to the audience chosen. The total presentation should be 5 to 7 minutes in length. The audio needs to be clear and be sure to address the key points identified in the outline and slideshow.
