Cloning is a term used generally to refer to the exercise of producing genetically a
homogenous duplicate of a cell/tissue/organism. Clones are organisms/cells that possess the
exact same genetic duplicates, and their DNA formation is entirely similar. Often, this process
occurs naturally; for instance, in a case where a cell duplicates itself asexually and not
necessarily through genetic modification/recombination. A great example is the occurrence of
identical twins. In biomedical studies, cloning is a widely used term to refer to the replication of
biological cells for scientific research in a lab setting (Brown, 2016).
