Methodology
Anthropology is a field that is broad and whereby several pieces of research and studies
related to the area have been done till today. They are in both secondary and primary sources.
There are published journals with the research done on this field; there are books on the same as
well as there is a lot of information in the different sites of the internet. In answering the
question, these sources will be used to access the information already researched by several
researchers where most of them are anthropologists.
Physical /Biological Anthropology
Physical anthropology is a branch of anthropology concerned with the biological
perspective of human beings study. Its main concerns are about the behavioral concepts of the
human being. It deals with human evolution, variability as well as how they adapt to
environmental stress (Larsen, 2014). With biological anthropology, the anthropologists examine
the physical forms of human their bones, organism and muscles as well as how human function
for reproduction and survival.
Subfields of Physical Anthropology
There are various subfields of physical anthropology such as paleoanthropology,
primatology, genetics, and paleopathology among others.
Paleoanthropology
It is a subfield of biological anthropology that deals with the study the evolutions of
hominids and primates from the records of fossils as well from that which may be determined
using the comparative anatomy, social structure studies as well as the behavior of close relatives.
The fossils of human are assessed using physical anthropology methods, as well as the
techniques of evolution theory and comparative anatomy (Speth, 2010). Artifacts for example
stone tools and bones are discovered, and their mental and physical development of the earl man
is interpreted using the methods of ethnology as well as archaeology.
Primatology
It is an essential field of physical anthropology which entails the study of the primates
which are non-human and assist the anthropologists to have a better understanding of the
similarities and differences of human and these primates as well as their evolution. The
nonhuman primate offers a broad comparative framework where the physical anthropologists can
study the human condition. The morphological studies, particularly those complemented by the
biochemical analysis offer essential cues to the significance of muscular and skeletal evolution
that result to the bipedalism of the human, having a bulbous head, weak jaws, outsta...
