Family level of disaster preparedness
The family has a two out of three level of disaster preparedness, and there needs to be
more effort to increase their disaster preparedness. Having all the necessary equipment to use
in case of a disaster is not safety enough, as one will need to use them to increase chances of
safety. However, with proper information and training most of the tools needed to avert a
possible crises are within the house. When it comes to questions of disaster preparedness the
father seems knows more about safety from his time at work, while the son and daughter in
school also know how to identify and use most of the fire safety tools. While the mother is
not as knowledgeable in disaster preparedness, she gets most of the questions on sanitation,
and proper health. Again, the children possess some basic knowledge about these as well.
While the parents complement each other, the children pick characteristics from both parents,
although they attribute most of it from school with the son being a boy’s scout.
Family functions
It is a middle class family, where both the father and mother work to provide for the
family so has two breadwinners. The grandparents to the children do not live far, where the
wife’s sister also lives, and this is where they leave the youngest for babysitting when they
