Description

The biggest problem is that you discuss relations between Venezuela and Colombia (such as with immigration and the FARC). You are not allowed to do that in this paper, as it concerns international relations. The class is comparative politics not international relations.

I would delete everything that has to do with the relations between the two states. I would add in more information on their internal systems and politics.

For example, go into more detail regarding how Venezuela's social democracy evolved under Chavez and how it became more authoritarian over time. Also, how it was greatly affected by the rise and fall of oil prices. For Colombia you could add more detail about the internal struggles with FARC, narco-trafficking and how, opposed to Venezuela and Chavismo, they have had multiple administrations and more normal electoral politics.

I do not know if you can do it again and I need to submit the paper on Monday morning.

families, government policy choices and international negotiations. The paper seeks to
compare politics between Venezuela and Colombia by analyzing various aspects such as the
evolution of democracy in Venezuela under Chavez, the effect of fluctuating oil prices as
well as the internal struggles with FARC and narco-trafficking among other things for
Colombia.
In Venezuela, Chavez is a legendary figure who changed the country’s economic and
political landscape by funneling huge amounts of government funds to social programs and
nationalization of industries (Cannon, 2013)...
