The company culture is an important element that can be used to improve the
performance of an organization. Culture has a strong influence on the decisions that are made in
an organization. This also affects the values, attitudes, and beliefs that the employees in the
organization adopt. The affective processes – that is the thinking and feelings – of the employees
are influenced by the culture that the management instills in the employees. Organizational
culture can be defined as the patterns that a group or team has adopted as it evolved through
problem-solving of internal and external integration and has been taught to the new members as
the acceptable way of thinking and perceiving certain problems (Tharp, 2009). These processes
are often resilient and go beyond the company’s founders. There are ways that company culture
can be maintained.
