The most reasonable training programs in the departments are ones that consider how
police officers interact with the local community and extends beyond the mandates hours by the
Indiana Code. Although the training offered is left at the discretion of police department heads,
deciding when and what officers are trained on is difficult considering there are many topics that
can be covered. However, Flores, (2015) reiterates that department heads have made efforts in
the past to go beyond what is required of them. For instance, there are various forms of training
