Question 1
Video 1
Foremost, the purpose of the video is to introduce basic terms related to engineering
economics including core formulas and calculations methods. The first topic discusses
definitions and overview before proceeding to simple interest and compound interest rates. The
third topic explains single payment formulas and table. The video concludes with cash flow
diagrams, NPW, and alternative investments. The author adequately defines economics,
economic analysis, money value, inflation and escalation using examples as required by AACE
International. The formulas and calculations involved in the subject of interest are well explained
and examples provided. Each of the topics discussed in the video is well covered and thoroughly
explained in a manner easier to understand. Finally, the video concludes with calculations on
alternative investments and NPW. The author clearly understands the basic concepts of
engineering economics and manages to provide an educative and enjoyable presentation.
Video 2
The author looks at additional problems in engineering economics during the workshop.
The purpose of the video is to stimulate the workshop problems about exam experiences using
examples. The author of the video can explain interest well though some people may find it
difficult to understand how to solve some of the engineering economics problems. The
explanation is shallow and does not consider the mechanics of the problems. The important
aspect of the presen...
