PEERS DISCUSSIONReflect on your understanding of the importance of evaluation with clients as a social worker as a result of completing the Single Case Design assignment; "Single case design is an evaluation method that can be used to rigorously test the success of an intervention or treatment on a particular case (a person, school, or community) and to also provide evidence about the general effectiveness of an intervention using a relatively small sample size" (jbassoc.com). I believe that my understanding of this evaluation will help to collect enough data to help improve that research that is needed in urban community districts and with programs to help people that live in these areas get the assistance they need at having a better opportunity to live life. Briefly discuss what went well - and not so well - as you carried out your Single Case Design; The single case design I chose to evaluate is worrying. The reason I chose this design is because I have a hard time dealing with personal issues that are out of my control. For instance, like getting into a car accident and injurying my spine or the death of a family member killing another family member. Although this design may be tough to evaluate, there are some ways to cope. I started praying and reading my bible when I became to overwhelmed. Next, I made an appointment with a therapist twice a week to discuss options for me to look at the situation from another point of view. Finally, I was flash cards to write down positive affirmations to keep myself encouraged. With a global pandemic and so much negativity going on in the world it is easy to lose focus. The bible in Philippians 4:6-7, "states do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (womansday.com).Thinking about your current or a former work context, give one specific example of how you could implement a single case design with a current or former client. Describe it in detail, identify any resistance or limitations you anticipate could arise and discuss the potential benefits of such an undertaking. Currently I have not had the opportunity to work in the social work field. The only example I can give would be based on my schooling. The believe that the meals on wheels companionship program subset survey based off the PHQ-9 that we implemented in our group about depression and loneliness could be an example. The limitations and resistance that we could anticipate is that the elderly people would not be interested in being apart of the research needed, but the potential benefit is that the data collected would show that their is a need for more companionship visits implemented in the the program to help reduce depression and loneliness.
