May-Britt Moser is a Norwegian neuroscientist and a psychologist who has made a
strong contribution to science. She is currently the head of Centre for Neural Computation
department of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She won the Nobel Prize in
Physiology or Medicine in 2014 which she shared with her husband Edvard Moser. The Nobel
was awarded for their work concerning their discoveries on Grid cells and other cell types that
constitute the positioning system in the brain. May-Britt Moser and her husband went to the
same high school and later met in University where they decided to study psychology and started
working together. They married in 1985.
The focus of May-Britt Moser’s work has been on spatial representation and
neurobiology (Moser et al., 2014). Her emphasis has mostly been on the cortico-hippocampal
function. She has been focusing on research on memory and spatial navigation throughout her
scientific career. She has performed most of her research in collaboration with her husband. With
