Experiences as Team Member
First and foremost, would like to state that I had incred ible experience working in a team.
As part of the experience, I learnt to appreciate how diversity within in a team can be extremely
important and valuable when working in a challenging project. In many respects, the diversity
within the group which I was part of proved to be extremely important as we were able to look at
the issues being addressed in the project from different angles and perspectives. For example,
one of the members who was very enthusiastic about working on a car that moves using water
indicated that at one point they ran out of petrol in a remote area where they was no petrol station
in the vicinity on their way to an important business meeting. While they had water at the back
of their car, they couldn’t use as not only was incompatible with petrol, there had never been a
car that runs on water. This valuable life experience proved to be very important in rallying the
members to put all their focus into the project. Besides this, there were other experiences which
helped was instrumental in enhancing the spirit to complete the project in time. What this teaches
us is the need to be careful when choosing group members to work in a project. Choosing
members from multiple backgrounds, experiences and views is likely to increase group synergy
and enthusiasm especially during times of great difficulty or commitment.
