Analyzing Social Problems and Social Policy
Assignment: Analyzing Social Problems and Social PolicyYou might think that social problems only affect those who suffer from the problem directly, but they actually have much broader impact. For example, the public education system shapes the educational experiences of those who are not a part of the private school system. The government provides policies and procedures necessary to develop the public education system and make recommendations on ways to engage youth. If the system does not adhere to these policies or engage the youth effectively, we may be faced with a population of adults that have not received an adequate education. Social problems, if unchecked, may affect a large number of people in the society. As a social worker, you should be keen in discerning social problems and addressing them. For this Assignment, you will identify a problem that affects populations that social workers serve. Some examples of social problems include poverty, child welfare/abuse, and homelessness.Assignment (2-4 double-spaced pages in APA format): In addition to a minimum of six scholarly references, which may include electronic government documents and reputable websites, your paper should include:A description of the social problem you selected and any known causes or explanations for the problemA description of the problem’s prevalence in societyA description of the specific population impacted by this social problem, if any. If the social problem you selected does affect a specific population, include an explanation of why that might be the case.An explanation of the theories that support the problem and approaches scholars and policy analysts use to address the problem

Mission College A new Understanding of Civil Rights Movements Essay
The course resources for this week all engage with CLO 4; “Analyze social actions that have led to greater equality and social justice in the US.” In recent years, historians have begun to recognize that viewing the postwar period from the perspective of diverse minority groups shows us how while there was not one united civil rights movement, there were many points of commonality and connection between movements for change and equality. This includes movements to end Jim Crow segregation and create racial equality, to create a more equitable immigration system, and to gain equal rights for women and homosexuals. In his essay on Globalyceum, Mark Brilliant describes how historians have been developing a new understanding about the civil rights movement called the “Long Civil Rights Movement.” How would you define this new concept and to what extent does it fit with our focus in this course on incorporating diverse viewpoints? How would you incorporate the Gay Liberation movement and the Women’s Liberation movement into this chronology and analysis? What do you consider the greatest achievements of the broad civil rights movement encompassing the diverse groups we have studied this semester? What have been the greatest challenges or limitations to increasing equality and social justice? Please read Chapter 5 and write about 600 words and provide detailed example. In the comments consider what issues do you think remain the biggest challenge for civil rights today? 100-200 words for each comments.

Last Psychology 3
How do developmental psychologists understand something as incredibly complicated as children and their development? They 'break' the child into parts by studying very specific things in very specific contexts. This is an underlying philosophy of science called "reductionism." Sometimes all of this reductionism can make it feel like our results are not really about children, but are about answering an inanely small question about a particular variation, of a particular task, with a particular group of kids, at a particular time. All of these particular studies are about answering bigger questions. How we answer these questions is part of a theory. Different developmental psychologists ask these questions differently, but almost all come to the similar questions. Consider how all the studies and topics that have been explored this term help answer these questions. They either support or refute different developmental theories. For this discussion answer the following questions. A minimum of 1000 words and/or three paragraphs, which ever is longer, is required.Nature vs. Nurture: Is it nature or nurture? Or is the question, itself, misleading? Individual Differences: How come we begin life as babies, who are so similar to one another, and yet we grow into such distinct adults? Social Context: How do we come to understand ourselves and our relationships with others? Is our social learning experience different from the way we learn about the physical world? Passive vs. Active Child: Are children passive recipients of experience, or do we actively construct the way we develop? What changes when children are medicated?Quantitative Change vs. Qualitative Stages: Are we almost different people at different phases of our lives, or are we always about the same with more experience to go by? 2
