Transmission Control Protocol

The transmission control protocol is a concept that controls how to create and maintain a
network connection and conversation through which computer applications and programs can
exchange data. It is significant in networking because it connects two computers enabling them
to send data to each other and therefore facilitating the exchange of data between two hosts
(Haddad, and Touati, 2013).
The First Computerized Network and Its Origin
The first network was created in the early 1970s and was called the Advanced Research
Projects Agency Network (ARPANET). It originated from the United States Department of
Defense. The department of defense was researching how networked computer can communicate
across different networks. The research was developed in two universities which are California
and Sanford Institute. The ARPANET used connected packets to allow computers to
communicate on the same network (Dorogovtsev, and Mendes, 2013). The system of networks
that resulted from the research came to be known as the internet.
The Advantages and Disadvantages
The advantages of the APARNET include the following; it made it possible for people
who are geographical very far apart to communicate with each oth...
