Asian American Population Change in New York
Flushing is New York City neighborhood and borough of queens in the USA.
Although the area is highly populated and dominated by commercial activities, Asia has
many Asians residents. The area is mainly comprised of retail and commercial buildings; the
area is the fourth largest place in New York City. The diversity of the city is depicted by the
numerous ethnic communities in the area. The location includes people such as the Asians,
Hispanic, European, Middle Eastern, and the common African American ancestry. Queens
County and the area is the sixth congressional district. The Asian community has resided in
Flushing since the 1970s. Previously the area has been dominated by the Japanese, nonHispanic before the Asian people established the foothold in Flushing (DADS), 2018). The
first Asians are believed to come from Taiwan and were the first to establish the Flushing's
Chinatown. The region is also known as little Taiwan or little Taipei. Before the Asian
immigrants from Taiwan arrival at Flushing, the Cantonese immigrants are believed to have
widely dominated many parts of the New York City (Chinese immigrants). However, it is the
1970s immigrants that were first to speak the Mandarin language. According to the 2010 data
from the United States Census of Flushing has increased with 3.8%, which is an increase
from previous Census in 2000 (69, 362), thus rising to 72, 008. The Asians and other
communities cover an estimate of 345.22 hectares (853.06 acres). The area is believed to
have a neighborhood of population density of 84.4 people per acre that accrues to 54,000/sq.
