irreconcilable, and in most cases, results in effects well beyond the physical borders wherein its
activities ensue. In this case, while the Confederacy and Union states of the American block
were at war Europe and France had their economies affected and such shared interest. Despite
the differences with regard to slavery between the Confederacy and Union states, Europe’s
