Statement of Purpose As an undergraduate student, I must have a heavy load of hours each semester in order to fill up the degree requirements. Sometimes the semester turns out interesting and sometimes otherwise. Through my student life, I have heard students all the time talking about a magic course that changed their lives and led them to be successful. I kind of experienced that, when I finished one of my courses. The course was full of academic topics and experimentations and I successfully handled the course. The professor and I talked a lot about the subjects and I have that inspiration to take it to another level. This is what makes me start thinking about my master degree. Before I joint Morgan State University, I was a firefighter for five years. Those years I served I have learned different techniques and skills. I will mention few but not all as examples. I have learned how to read blueprints for factories and big plants during fire missions. I led so many rescue missions that related to my job as a firefighter. I developed a good understanding of how to use different technologies and programming languages. During my serving time in the fire department, I gained swimming and diving skills. Also, in my last year of service, I became an assistant for safety sub-department. After I finished working in a fire department, I decided going back to college and took my degree in civil engineering. I was blessed to get in MSU which was on my top list universities. I started my program as an undergraduate student, but I worked hard and I showed my true interest in different subjects. I learned so many things from hydraulic, environmental engineering, structural and constructional materials, to construction and project management. I was one of the top students in all classroom. Vanderbilt University has solid and strong graduate school program in Civil and Environmental Engineering concentrated in the Construction Management M.Eng . I feel this program is going to enhance my academic background and prepare me to work in the field. Beside prestige factors, Vanderbilt university has so many good faculty members and graduate community that will introduce me to large network of people in my area of interest.
