Arguably, there is no clear established cause of bipolar disorder. However, researchers
have singled out environmental and genetic factors as the main causes of the condition. There
could be other factors which cause the onset and progression of the condition. For the doctors to
develop a better treatment plan, they need to study all of them. The condition is highly
inheritable and having a family member who has bipolar disorder puts one at high risk (Kerner,
2015). This does not mean that one will ultimately get, but there are higher chances of
developing the condition. It suggests that the environmental and psychological factors trigger the
development and progression of bipolar disorder in individuals. The present scenario will be
based on a 30-year-old young man who comes from a wealthy background and has a very
successful career. He is born as an identical twin, and his twin brother suffers from the bipolar
condition. His father lives in denial that his son suffers from an abnormal condition (MachadoVieira, 2017). His mother, on the other hand, has a history of depression. The young man has
