Project Closeout
Introduction
A project close-out process involves taking a project through its final stage of
implementation to finalize all deliverables, schedules, milestones, and task. It ensures that all the
activities and phases of the project have been fully implemented to the satisfaction of the end users, thus ushering room to handover the project to the sponsors. During the project close-out
process, the project team, led by their leader undertakes a thorough review of the project to
ascertain the errors which could have been encountered during the project implementation. Any
identified error is eliminated to improve the final product of the project (Lin, Lin, Hu, & Su,
2018). The main role of going through a project closeout process is to evaluate and assess the
project to ascertain that it was successfully completed without any hindrance.
Project managers use the outcomes of the project closeout process to outline the various
lessons that were learned from the overall implementation of the project which would be applied
in future projects to achieve a higher level of performance and outcome (Lin, Lin, Hu, & Su,
2018). Therefore, the project closeout process provides an opportunity for the project team to
ensure efficiency in project delivery to achieve the highest level of quality standards that would
facilities the achievement of the objectives and goals of the project.
