1. Two steps to data storage design
The first step to data storage design is describing how data can be stored in the component of the
system. After the storage format has been selected, it is then engineered to improve its
operational efficiency.
2. File and a Database
A database is a comprehensive store of collections of information associated in some way with
each other while a file is a digital catalog of data improved to perform specific processes.
3. End-user database and an enterprise database
End-user databases only support small-scale productivity, for example, Microsoft Access. An
enterprise database controls large volumes of data and can back up applications that are used in
whole corporations, for example, Oracle.
