By definition, culture refers to the attitudes, behaviors, ideas, and customs of a particular
group of people. It entails the way people dress, greet each other, perceive visual information,
and resolve conflict In the recent past, intercultural communications due to cultural diversity has
developed to become an important tool in promoting peace and understanding with the
increasing globalization and integration of the world Intercultural communication appears at
every stage of our society. Culture plays a vital role in determining how each individual
communicates, thereby resulting into intercultural communication. Intercultural communication
aims at sharing information across different social groups or cultures in a particular region.
Therefore, intercultural communications can best be understood by analyzing Geert Hofstede’s
national culture model.
According to Geert Hofstede, every culture has its unique features that makes us who
were. He illustrates the key similarities and differences using the national model which has six
different dimensions. There is no doubt in arguing that communication tends to be diverse within
different members of a group from diverse backgrounds. For instance, those from South Africa
and those individuals from Argentina tend to communicate differently because they come from
