“The development of the all-encompassing global economy is a frequent topic of debate nowadays,
but the word economy itself has rather homely beginnings"(Economy, 2004). The reason why this a
frequent topic of dabate might be because certain countries have better econ mies than others and
the reason for that might not be possible to implicate in another setting. Within a work environment it
has to run like clockwork especially if a lot of people are involved in making the company as successful
as it is. It seems like each company if big enough kind of has it own economy.
However, their are also other economies within a country. For example, a “political economy which
originally referred to the art, or pactical science, of managing the of a nation so as to increase its
material prosperity; in more recent use, it is the theoretical science dealing with the laws that regulate
the production and distribution of wealth” (Economy, 2003). Each country has their own type of
political economy to which benefits them and it's people if supported and makes a postive difference
within the country. Some countries are not so lucky as even with a somewhat stable political system
sometimes it's success can determine the likelihood that the overall economy, not just the political
one, may also experience some sort of drop or crash. Within the UK, due to the whole Brixit situation,
the strength of the pound is dropping which isn't godo for those who live there as when it comes to
coverting currentecy people will recieve less money to spend elsewhere. This is due to the fact that so
much has gone on in order to get this idea in motion that it has had a negative impact on Britain's
overall economy. This is not a good start when they are trying to leave the European Union.
Work and economy are linked as they both involve money, pacients and people who are invested in
making it a success. Many successful economies may experience a crash in order to rebuild. Working
and generating an income and putting it back into the economy is how society contributes to making
sure it is sustainable.

There are companies in the United States that are ran 24/7 with workers working long hours
everyday. Because of the constant run of businesses, technology has drastically changed over the
years and resources has made life easier for the everyday person. But the workers sometimes choose
their long hours, or they don't. Sweatshops are still around in poorer countries with men, women, and
children working long hours for very little money. “For example, the Nike Corporation subcontracts
with overseas employers for about 75,000 Asian workers to make Nike shoes. In some cases, 11-year-
old workers who earn about $2.20 a day are producing sneakers at a cost of about $6 a pair. The
sneakers are then sold in the United States for $80 or more” (Julian, Kornblum, & Seccombe, 2016).
There is constant debate to give the poor nations workers' rights to get rid of the workshops and
increase labor pay. Many people, even some here at Lynn University wear designer clothing and not
realize that a little kid could have made that. I even own Nike clothing and shoes and at the moment
of purchasing I do not think about where it came from just that I like it. I believe it is up to the
companies to control where and who makes their things.

“As manufacturing jobs declined over the past generation, jobs in the service sector and in sales have
increased “(Julian, Kornblum, & Seccombe, 2016). Low paying jobs are continuing to increase and be
available because it is what businesses can afford. Another common thing growing is contingent
nonstandard work which is "work that does not have a written employment contract, is only
temporary, or has irregular hours” (Julian, Kornblum, & Seccombe, 2016). These types of jobs are for
maids, cooks, waiters, and nanny's and can be good for some people, but not for others. The
advantages can be for people who enjoy freedom and the independence. However, it is not steady
income and the inconsistency can be frustrating and stressful to others.
Just in my neighborhood alone, I have seen stores close down left and right because people are no
longer shopping in person, but online. Take Toys-R-Us for example, they just went out of business.
Self-made businesses are also suffering because of the economy or that people do not go out and
look for what is around them. This has also impacted me,l have been a waitress for about 4 years and
the inconsistency of pay and if you are needed to work was not good for me because of bills and
schoolwork. However, some of the people I worked with was perfect for the job because they either
didn't have school and could work all the time, or didn't have to worry about rent or monthly
payments. There are jobs everywhere, it is just a matter of getting one you like or just getting a job in
general to cover your bills and support yourself.
