The New Testament is similar to the Old Testament in that it is composed of devotional,
prophetic, historical, and doctrinal truths. However, in the New Testament there Is less prophetic
and historical, and more of devotional and doctrinal. A significant part of the historical records in
the New Testament call attention to the accomplishment of particular prophecies in the Old
Testament. Particularly, the first four books; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, also referred to as
the four “Gospels,” and written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John respectively. These first four
books in the New Testament capture the story of Jesus and the idea of the Gospel of the
Kingdom of God as it is known today. Each of these books narrates the life, death, and
resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The way the book of Matthew is composed, it focuses on the depiction of Jesus as the
King of the Jews even though he has been persecuted by the Jews (Berkhof, 2017). The message
is aimed at offering assurance to the Christians Jews that indeed Jesus is the expected Messiah as
predicted in the Old Testament and hence He is the Son of God and ...
