Introduction

The United States Constitution is one of the oldest constitutions in the world. It is the
base in the development of the U.S government and the land laws. Originally formed in the
eighteenth century, it now leads more than two hundred and sixty citizens of America after going
through twenty-seven amendments. Formation of the constitution has not been that easy as along
the way there have been very many ups and downs. In the year seventeen eighty-seven, there
emerged a drafty document however there existed a very intense debate with an experience of six
years with the by the federal union.

Competence one

The first constitution mainly referred to as the Articles of Confederation consisted of
thirteen independent states which came together to deal with affairs that were foreign. A vote
was held among each state in which people from the Rhode Island and those from Virginia had
one thing in common. Any additional amendment to the constitution had to acquire a unanimous
vote.

The constitution resulted in a weak congress as some of the states which were suspicious
did not desire to base their independence to a legislature even though they participated in the
development of the amendment. States, therefore, were free to make their own laws despite
conflicting with the laws from the other states. It was not easy for the Congress to protect itself
