Question description

  1. prepare 400 ml of the following buffer: 0.15 M phosphate buffer, pH 7.2, containing 0.15 M KCl. (Note that this buffer contains slightly different constituents than the one used in the experiments.)
  • When performing the calculations, the following information will be useful:
  • Molar mass of di-sodium hydrogen phosphate (Na2HPO4) = 142.0 g per mole.
  • Molar mass of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4) = 136.1 g per mole.
  • Molar mass of potassium chloride = 74.6 g per mole.
  • To obtain a pH of 7.2 at 20 °C, the molar ratio of KH2PO4:Na2HPO4 should be 1:2.57.
