1. In what ways do teams differ from groups? What factors contribute to a team? When
have you worked in a team? What was your experience like?
Teams are formed with a purpose of uniting efforts to achieve a common goal. Teams
members work together and are concerned about the role played by others. On the other hand,
groups are formed to make administration and management easy. The group members are
independent and focus on individual achievement. The factors that contribute to a team are
interdependence, role identity, homogeneity, collectivity, leadership, and a common goal (Levi,
2013). I have worked in a system development team, and the experience was amazing since we
worked collectively and supported each other. However, there were few misunderstandings, but
we resolved them immediately.

2. What are some different types of teams? What are the goals of each type of team? What
differences are there in how team members work together in these different teams?
Functional teams are permanent, and their goal is to perform a specific function in the
organization. The team members are from the same department but have different
responsibilities; therefore, most time works independently. Cross-functional teams are made of
members from different departments with different expertise (Hayes & Hayes, 2014). The team
members are interdependent since their roles complement each other. Virtual teams do not
