4) x+4 / 2 - 2x/3 < 4

5) simplify: 5x/3 minus 4y divided by 12y/7x

6) 2/5(x+3)-(x-2) = -1/2

7) 2x^2 -4x -1 = 0

8) Evaluate : 3^n-2 -3^n / 3^n

9) solve for x if log 3 x=4

10) A quadratic expression is given as
2x^2 - x+1 = k
i) show that the roots of 2x^2 -x+1 = k are real when k is equal or greater than 7/8

ii) use the quadratic formula to solve the equation.

11) solve : 2/x-3 = 3/2(x+4)

12) an algebraic expression is given as
2 - 3/x + 1/x^2 = 0

i) show that the above expression can be simplified to give the quadratic equation 2x^2 -3x+1=0

ii) use the quadratic formula to solve the equation.
