The job of the police officer is high risk resulting in grave danger for the police officers that are in the field. In order to ensure their safety organizational behavior is designed to be uniform and highly structured. Police officers are expected to follow orders and failure to follow orders can result in disciplinary actions. The police organization must function like a well oiled machine because police play a critical role in society. Any failures on the part of police organization can result in harm to the police officer or members of the public. Organizational behavior in the police environment must be structured and police officers must follow procedures and policy to ensure their safety and to ensure the rights of the citizen are not violated. The organization's base rests on management's philosophy, values, vision and goals
