In the year 1931, less than 4 000 people in the UK got divorced. Upon hitting the 1960’s, the number of divorces per anum doubled to 8 000 and then doubled again in 1972. By 2004, there were a grand total of 165 000 divorce settlements per year. This shows that the divorce rate in the UK has clearly increased quite dramatically in the last hundred years or so.
