Allison Shank an assistant manager that works in one of the Flight 001 retail stores, that did not feel appreciated and never received positive feedback. She was instead made to feel like a number. According to Maslows hierarchy of needs, the need of Shanks need of esteem was not being met by her boss. Maslow recognizes five levels of need that need to be fulfilled in order for an individual to reach self actualization. The need of esteem involves Shanks need to be recognized, respected, and appreciated as well as to develop self worth and confidence due to her achievements. Shanks old bosses failed to meet this need which would result in higher levels of motivation from their employees. When employees at a company feel they are underpaid for the work they are doing they are less motivated to be effective and productive workers.
