Abstract1) Fractional distillationFractional distillation, similar to simple distillation, is a technique used to separate different mixed-together liquids. However, fractional distillation comes with fractionating column between the boiling flask and the condenser. The copper packed inside the column allows the vapor to stay and drop back to the flask, thus facilitate the separation of the compounds. Some vapor will drop back whilst the vapor of the other type travel through the column. With todays experiment, we are going to determine the mole percentage of 1-chlorobutane and toluene. Set up the distillation chamber as usual. Make sure to add the boiling chips into the boiling flask after adding 20mL of the sample. After the experiment, we were able to collect 6 fractions of the distillate
