Applying the Research and Conclusion of the Research ProcessHCS 465Applying the Research and Conclusion of the Research ProcessThe article titled "School Nurses and Childhood Obesity: An Investigation of Knowledge and Practice Among School Nurses as They Relate to Childhood Obesity" by; Colleen Nauta, Claire Byrne, and Yvonne Wesley describe the riding number of children being obese and the steps the school nurses are taking if any and if and how the school nurses are stepping in to educate the students and the parents. The research focuses on a few different things such as: are the school nurses determining if the child is overweight, do the school nurses use any kind of charting system to guide them in their findings like a BMI chart, and are the school nurses educating the parents and the schools of this issue. The authors suggested that the school nurses should screen the children for obesity by using a BMI chart to help determine if the child is overweight or not, and for those children that are the nurses should re-direct the parents in finding proper help for the students and take out the vending machines that may be located throughout the school and provide health meals.
