The hardship and the struggle to get wealth are in pursuit of the American dream. Death of a Salesman and A Raisin in the Sun, are two play in the 1940s; showing the struggles that families went through to attain financial success and the predicaments they went through. Death of A Salesman is about the struggle of a white family; A Raisin in the Sun is a story about a black family. The two families live in different conditions socially and financially, yet they show similarities in the struggle and predicaments that Americans undergo in pursuit of financial success. A Raisin in the Son shows the struggle that African- American had to go through to come out of the poverty. The story is about the life of Walter, who is struggling to move from poverty and become wealthy - the ideal American dream. However, there are many setbacks that lay in his path to financial success, since he does not have the cash to start the business of his choice and his family plans to move to the white neighborhood.
