The investigator will seek to establish a relationship with the suspect or persons of interest in order to make the suspect comfortable and relax in order to tell the truth. The investigator will encourage the suspect to speak freely to establish commonalities and will be offered something to drink or eat to assist them in relaxing and being more forthcoming. The more relaxed and trusting the suspects becomes of the police investigator the more he or she will be willing to reveal. In the first YouTube video Ashley Laney is being interviewed by police concerning the murder of Sandra Rozzo and despite the fact she requests an attorney continues to try and establish a relationship with Rozzo by making her feel as if the investigator was on her side and that his goals is to make sure the right person is convicted for the crime.
