In reality, science fiction is much more than that; it can tell us about our own world by transporting us far, far away. Science fiction delves into the issues of todays society by placing them in an extreme and oftentimes futuristic setting, to show how these problems could destroy our world.Science fiction is not just a genre about the developments of science. It can tell its reader about their world in a way that makes sense to them. By creating a new and different world Science Fiction gives people a unique way of seeing themselves and their world. Science fiction deals with the effects of change on people in the real world as it can be projected into the past, the future, or distant places (Gunn 6). Science fiction does not predict the future, which is impossible. It describe[s] reality, the present world (Le Guin 151).
