This issue does not only focus on Western Australia, but it also covers other country such as America. The research conducted was based on scholarly journals, newspaper articles, literatures, as we well accredited websites. This report focuses on five aspects. First aspect includes the background data on declining perfomance in mathematics. Secondly it fouces on the potential causes for negative responses in mathematic. In primary school level, it has been found that wrong teaching practices and the broken image of mathematics have caused this. Where as in univeristy level it is mainly caused by math anxiety. Thirdly, the report focuses on how universities mathematics department can help these students to be more confident in their ability to do mathematics.
