Running head: DEVELOPING GOOD BUSINESS SENSEDeveloping Good Business SenseStudent Name College NameDeveloping Good Business SenseThe three companies I have picked to discuss are McDonalds, Wal-Mart and the company where I work, ConAgra foods. I think that these three companies all have a small difference in how they operate but aim for the same goal, lower costs and higher gain. McDonalds uses a very effective type of operating system. Since all kinds of products are expensive to buy out right, this company utilizes resources already available. Instead of buying their products at a high price they rent or lease slaughterhouses and buy their own cattle. This reduces their losses in buying just hamburger meat which allows them to sell their hamburgers at a lower price. Also by purchasing other products they use wholesale they get a lower price and are able to bring that savings to the public. From the start of an employee's career they are at the bottom of the totem pole but have a chance to advance to the position of store manager. This type of organization is very effective because all employees know that with hard work they could one day run the operation. By
