Police officers are also public servants that provide aid and assistants to citizens in need and provide crowd control at public events. Even with all of these responsibilities the police officer also has an obligation to act within the confines of the law and display behavior that is both ethical and moral. All law enforcement officers must be fully aware of their ethical responsibilities and adhere to the established ethical code of conduct. Part of a police officer's duties is to report any acts of misconduct that occur within the department by fellow police officers. In the scenario where a police officer has been asked to write a report by his superior, the lieutenant, that would leave out information that could implicate another officer that just happens to be the Lieutenants brother in law.
