Classroom management case studyName:Institution:Executive Summary This paper reviews the concept of classroom management in the contemporary classroom and the importance of these systems in maintaining an environment that facilitates proper learning. Three management systems that deal with behavior and performance issues are discussed. These are the Positive Behavior Support, Consistency Management and Cooperative Discipline and the Self Determination Theory Perspective. Positive Behavior Support typically involves three steps of intervention, the universal or primary prevention, then small group or more focused interventions also known as selected or secondary and lastly individualized interventions also called indicated or tertiary. CMCD builds student responsibility and self-discipline by improving instruction, establishing discipline procedures, creating organized learning environments, and forging positive student-teacher relationships. The Self Determination Perspective is a broadened view that takes into consideration the student-centered and humanistic approach to classroom management, emphasizing care, guidance, and self-discipline.
