The probation officer has a duty to enforce the ruling of the court and to make sure the criminal offender complies. The probation officer is also responsible for checking in with the criminal offenders under his care and monitoring the actions of probationers under strict supervision through the use of GPS tracking devices. The parole officer plays the same role as the probation officer with one exception. Parole officer supervise offenders that have been released on good behavior after serving a certain amount of time in jail. The parole officer ensures the stipulations of the criminal offender's release are followed and any violations are enforced.
