This has been caused by increased number of non-English speaking populations. For example in 2000 census, the Ohio state recorded 116 different languages in use in the state. A survey conducted by the Supreme Court of Ohio in 2006, revealed that about 73 languages were in demand in the courts (The Supreme Court of Ohio, 2010).The need for fairness and equal protection, outlined in the fundamental process necessitates the need of courts to ensure that there is effective and accurate communication during court proceedings. As a result, for protection of the interest of justice to the people to be upheld, it is imperative that interpretation services are available for use in courts whenever there is need (The Supreme Court of Ohio, 2010).The laws that support the delivery of these services were developed to protect the integrity of all Americans. There are outlined criterion for the hiring of interpreters, their training, reduction of errors that may be caused through interpretation, and code of ethics.
