The goal of the firewall is to prevent unauthorized users entering into the system to wreak havoc or to steal packets of information. All packets of information entering or leaving the system must first pass through the firewall. The firewall will examine each message before it is allowed to enter or exit the system. If the message contains malicious code or other viruses it will be prevented from entering the system. Firewalls are generally designed to protect network traffic and connections (Arthor, 2012).
