How are they currently influencing sentencing policy changes?The Three Strike Laws is a sentencing policy created first in Washington followed by the state of California and now is legislation in over half the states in America. The Three Strike Laws is a sentencing policy requiring repeat felony offenders to serve harsher prison sentences and after being convicted of their third felony offense to serve a mandatory prison sentence of twenty five years to life. The Three Strikes Sentencing policy began in California with a Polly Klass father. Polly Klass was a ten year old girl who was kidnapped from her bedroom, raped and murdered by a repeat, violent felony offender. Polly's father garnered support from the public and special interest groups. These special interest groups put pressure on politicians resulting in the Senate and house voting the policy into law. The Governor signed the policy into law and voters supported the sentencing change for repeat felony offenders. Through the efforts of special interest groups the public is informed of the repeat offender problem in society. Since
