In order to obtain evidence contained on the computer and in the electronic communications of criminal suspect police will first need to obtain a search warrant from a judge. In federal rule 18 U.S.C. 2510-22 authorizing or approving the interception of wire or oral communications, federal law enforcement is forbidden from intercepting the private electronic communications of the suspect. In order to obtain a search warrant to intercept private, electronic communications law enforcement must have probable cause a crime is being committed (Cybertelecom, 2013). In order to obtain the search warrant police must first be able to show the incriminating evidence located by the librarian is tied to the criminal suspect.
