In this case a sniper working for the metropolitan police department has begun to show signs he is suffering from mental health issues. These issues are the result of the sniper having to shoot the hostage takers in three out of four incidents requiring the expertise of a sniper. Having to kill three criminals in a three week period has caused the sniper major strain resulting in uncharacteristic behavior. Recently the sniper acted impulsively at a scene with a shooter. Instead of remaining in position and shooting the criminal with a gun from a distance the sniper walked out in the open and arrested the shooter without incident. Snipers are trained to shoot criminal threats from a distance. When the sniper approached the dangerous shooter he put his life at risk and the lives of his fellow officers. This behavior is not unusual creating major concern. The sniper has been displaying unusual behavior. He has nightmares and refuses to sleep with his wife. The sniper has been drinking excessively and began to cry the other night while out drinking with friends.
