This competition brings about various stressful circumstances experienced by the participants. Moreover, these stressful circumstances often impact negatively on students' academic performance. The rise in cases of attrition of college students and university students has been a major issue of concern by the university administration and other stakeholders prompting research to be conducted on this issue (Junco, 1983). Previous research shows that, stressful experiences by both college and university students has been the major cause of suicides and suicidal feelings, exhibited by these students, stress-induced disorders, and poor academic performance. Therefore, it is imperative for me, as a psychology student, to research on this issue of stress and come up with the best solution to solving it since it is rapidly increasing in colleges and universities.
