Inclusion and integration Inclusion refers to a process of incorporating pupils with special educational needs in the mainstream school where they join their peers in living school life and going through the curriculum. Integration on the other hand refers to the process of educating children with special needs in settings similar to those of mainstream. In such situations, the children are expected to fit in the setting. The issue of integration and inclusion has been of great debate since the integration of inclusion. Notably, inclusion can be traced back to 1978 when the Warnock Report (1978) was published. The report had three main principles, namely; first, the report required every child having special needs to be educated in mainstream schools.
