Angina is a symptom experienced when myocardial oxygen delivery is insufficientto meet myocardial energy requirements. Myocardial infarction is defined as death of myocardium due to severe ischaemia. Acute coronary syndromes (ACS) comprises of;1) Unstable angina (Not associated with heart muscle damage)2) Non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (Non-STEMI) .3) ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)Anterior Myocardial Infarct Classical symptoms of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) include; chest paintypically radiating to the left arm or left side of the neck), Dyspnoea, Nausea,Vomiting, Palpitation, Sweating and anxiety (often described as a sense ofimpending doom). There are two types of myocardial infarction. These types are named according tothe appearance of the electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) as;Non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI)ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Angina occurs in two forms;1) Stable angina2) Unstable anginaStable angina; Attacks are predictable, provoked by exertion or excitement and recedes whenthe increased energy demand is withdrawn.
