The essay “Silent Dancing” by Judith Ortiz Cofer really made me realize some things. It was able to grab my attention just by the way it explained certain things, and I was quick to pick up on how the essay added to the whole house and home concept. But this essay added in a way that I didn't know it could do so. It basically showed me that not only can certain events change the way we see space but where we come from or how we are raised can make us look at a new space or any space differently. So basically can the culture you are raised in have a certain impact in how you want live in your new space or how you feel comfortable in different spaces ?

I got an understanding of what she was trying to explain to us as readers. She talked a lot about how her mom acted and what I got from it was that her mom was not quite comfortable with where she was living and this I think this was because she was so use to her culture and being in Puerto Rico that it didn't feel the same. We can see when the author talks about how her mother would go to "La Bodega" because that's where
