A house and a home are factories of memories to last a lifetime. What are the best or worst memories we can have from those especial years as we start to get ready for adulthood? Sometimes we forged those memories in places we call "Home" and the remembrance of them (happy or sad moments) could be printed in our minds day after day until the day we die. Others are forged in "a house" and we rather not to erase those memories completely (since we are not too attached to the structure) but to hold on to them in case the experience could become useful as we become older and wiser. In this case Edwidge Danticat experienced a traumatic event in which a fire affected her directly even as the fire was not related to her; this event changed her perspective on life and the what if?? What really happened to Edwidge as she was growing up in an apartment complex in the middle of Brooklyn NY? For many of us just the thought of "an apartment in Brooklyn "is just enough to send shivers up and down in our spines. Now picture the apartment with a subway station directly underneath the building with trains that were persistent
