There seem to be several factors contributing to the discontent of this particular employee. First, the employee explains that she is exhausted and feels overworked. This points to the psychological phenomenon that is sometimes a common career development challenge; burnout. Employees who suffer burnout often quit if some type of relief is not offered. Stewart and Brown observe that, burnout is highly related to workload, pressure, stress, conflict and unmet expectations (p. 386). Besides that, the employee also mentions that she does not feel challenged in her current job. The reader gets a sense that while she may be overworked, she is bored and unenthused.
